Mallie Boman began her career as an actress and director, working extensively on stage, in film, television, radio and tape throughout the US, Canada and Japan.

In 1971, Ms. Boman founded the Actors' Workshop in Vancouver, Canada, where she served as Artistic Director until 1980. Under her leadership, the studio grew to become the largest multi-disciplinary center of its kind in Canada. Ms. Boman developed three professional theatre companies, lobbied to save and renovate the Firehall Theatre, creating the first Performing Arts Research Centre in Canada. She returned to her native New York City in 1980, and founded the critically acclaimed touring story-theatre company, Readers Theatre Workshop, where she served as Artistic Director until 1996. During this time, Ms. Boman also incorporated inCollaboration, Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing artistic partnerships and collaborative efforts, linking artists and communities.

In 1997, Ms. Boman created Bamboo & Bone to produce new works of theatre, music, poetry and video. Bamboo & Bone's first production, Mona Lisa, Buddha and Me, fuses the lyrical and haunting Shakuhachi (Japanese flute) with dramatic mono-poems and humor, drawing from the diverse cultural influences that make up the fabric of the global and American experience.

In film and television, Ms. Boman is currently completing a documentary called Reunion -- a Concert of Tribute.   She has directed and produced a documentary for RCA Victor, Japan, directed La Bicyclette for the National Film Board in Canada and won the CAPA award for children's television program, Put it in Motion. Other awards

She has written several plays and monologues, notably Holograms, Junkyard, inside/outsides.  Bench Press, a one-act play, has won awards at Fitton Arts Center in Ohio and Turnip Theatre in NYC.

Ms. Boman has been the featured poet at venues such as Barnes and Noble, Saturn Series, C-Note, Village Music School, La Poeme, the Moroccan Café.
